An interview with the Founder of Bay of Fire
The Earth Collection came to life slowly and intentionally! shaped by warmth, grounding tones, and a desire to create pieces that feel timeless and deeply connected to nature. Inspired by land, texture, and the beauty of slowing down, The Earth Collection reflects Bay of Fire’s evolving story and commitment to thoughtful, feminine design.
We spoke with our founder Apo about the inspiration, process, and meaning behind the collection.
The Inspiration
What first sparked the idea for the Earth Collection?
The Earth Collection was born from a desire to return to something essential. After a second collection inspired by adventurous women road-tripping and venturing Down Under — with added active details and technical elements — I felt drawn back to more timeless designs, closer to our very first pieces. I wanted to reconnect with a softer, more grounded palette inspired by raw, elemental landscapes where land meets sea. Earth came from observing coastlines, dunes, cliffs and shells, and the quiet strength they embody.
Why did this collection feel important to create now?
Now more than ever, women are seeking connection — to themselves, to nature, and to what feels real. Earth is a reminder that confidence doesn’t need to be loud; it can be grounded, effortless and deeply rooted. You don’t need vibrant tones to be seen or to stand out. For us, confidence is first and foremost about elegance, and about being aligned with your passions — and our passions are deeply connected to feeling grounded in nature.
How did you develop the colour palette for Earth?
The palette was drawn directly from nature: a soft off-white inspired by shell nacre, warm mocha tones echoing sun-drenched dunes, and a deep chocolate reflecting rugged coastal cliffs. These hues feel timeless, versatile and quietly powerful, designed to enhance and contrast beautifully with the skin. They’re also colours that can be easily mixed and matched, and worn beyond the beach — styled with shorts, a pareo or a satin overskirt for daytime summer looks.
What role did the environment and nature plain in shaping the fabric and texture used in the collection?
Nature influenced both the feel and function of the pieces. We returned to our trusted Italian sustainable fabric for its sculpting quality, softness and durability — a material designed to move with the body and withstand ocean conditions. The texture is smooth, buttery soft and comforting, creating a true second-skin feeling.

Design & Values
Can you describe the journey from concept to final pieces?
The journey was intentional and considered. We began with colours, then layered structure and performance on top. This collection introduced a new one-piece and bikini top with a low, flattering V neckline and bralette style — a silhouette we hadn’t explored in previous collections. From there, every detail was refined to ensure the final pieces feel timeless, supportive and effortless.
All designs retain our signature built-in bras and inner elastic bands under the bust, engineered for confident movement in the water — whether swimming, surfing, snorkelling or diving — without compromising on elegant finishes such as refined double straps. We also expanded our essential range of bottoms, offering high-waist, classic bikini and cheeky shapes in the new mocha, chocolate brown and off-white tones, designed to support active women from sun-tanning and SUP paddling to surf sessions.
How does the Earth Collection reflect Bay of Fire’s core values?
Earth captures the essence of Bay of Fire: femininity without fragility, and elegance designed for real movement. Each one-piece, bikini top and bottom is created for women who lead active lives — moving between surf, swim and time spent outdoors — while remaining deeply connected to their bodies and their environment.
What do you hope women feel when wearing pieces from the Earth Collection?
Supported, confident and deeply connected — to their bodies, their breath and the natural environments around them. The collection is designed to feel like a second skin, allowing women to move freely and intuitively, whether in the water or during slower moments of movement and recovery.
How does this collection influence the future of Bay of Fire?
Earth marks a return to our origins and sets the direction for what’s next: more timeless silhouettes, deeper intention and a continued focus on pieces that endure. It reinforces our commitment to creating durable, sustainable swimwear for active women — one-pieces, bikinis, tops and bottoms designed to support movement across surf, swim, paddle and life by the ocean.

The Earth Collection is an invitation to slow down, feel grounded, and choose your swimwear with intention a quiet celebration of femininity, timeless design and connection to the natural world.
